THE EQUINE EDGE – 28/11/2026 Programme Schedule A full day of multidisciplinary insight, live assessment and practical application. 08.30 - 09.00 Arrival - registration & breakfast 09:00 – 09:10 Opening word by Matthias Agneessens - Move 2 Ride Founder and organizer of The Equine Edge. Manual therapist and biomechanist who treats both human and equine clients as one connected biomechanical chain. Through his practice, Move 2 Ride, he combines manual therapy with movement analysis and rehabilitation. 09:10 – 09:55 Session 1 – The Foundation : Hoof Biomechanics An in-depth theoretical session addressing the impact of mediolateral imbalance and break-over on proximal joints. Particular attention is given to how hoof configuration influences tension within the deep digital flexor tendon and rotational forces acting on the sacroiliac joint. 10:00 – 10:45 Session 2 – Visual Analysis & Baseline Assessment LIVE ARENA Participants observe a live, multidisciplinary baseline evaluation. Hoof landing patterns, stride length, and postural symmetry are assessed simultaneously by farrier, veterinarian, and therapist to establish a shared diagnostic framework. 10:45 – 11:00 Coffee Break 11:00 – 11:45 Session 3 – The Topline: Dental Biomechanics This lecture focuses on the occiput–atlas–axis (OAA) complex and the temporomandibular joint (TMJ). The session explains how dental malocclusions can disrupt myofascial continuity and compromise the thoracic sling. 11:45 – 12:35 Session 4 – Functional Cranial Testing LIVE ARENA A practical demonstration of functional cranial and mandibular testing. Participants observe how dental findings translate into detectable responses in shoulder mobility and cervical freedom during in-hand work. 12:35 – 13:30 Lunch Break & Networking opportunity 13:30–14:15 Session 5 – The Engine: Axial Skeletal Integration This theoretical session introduces the “Bow and String” model of the axial skeleton under load. Connections are drawn between hoof mechanics, cranial tension, and spinal function during locomotion. 14:20–14:55 Session 6 – Stress Testing: Biomechanics Under Load LIVE ARENA A dynamic exercise test using heart-rate monitoring and gait sensors. Incremental increases in intensity reveal biomechanical compensations and performance “leaks” that emerge under fatigue. 14:55 – 15:10 Short Break & Data Download 15:10–15:55 Session 7 – Data Analysis & Clinical Interpretation Collected data from the stress test is analyzed. Topics include heart-rate recovery, loss of symmetry, and the distinction between medical limitations and trainable deficits. 16:00–16:45 Session 8 – Integrated Training in Practice LIVE ARENA A horse is worked under saddle or on the double lunge. Each professional adjusts one element—such as bit choice, shoeing, therapeutic release, or rider aids—to demonstrate how targeted interventions can immediately improve axial stability. 16:45–17:30 Session 9 – From Assessment to Treatment Plan The day concludes with a joint reflection on interdisciplinary collaboration. The speakers outline how structured communication between disciplines leads to more effective treatment planning and long-term performance outcomes. 17:30–18:00 Q & A panel session – Closing Word Closing word by Matthias Agneessens 18.00 Networking - drinks & fingerfood Proudly presented by our sponsors The Equine Edge • Programme 2026

  • Speakers | Equine Biomechanics Conference | Belgium Nov 2025

Meet global expert shaping the future of equestrian biomechanics & rider development at the EBM Conference Meet the speakers Meet the experts shaping the future of equine health. Discover the leading veterinarians, therapists, researchers and equine professionals bringing their knowledge, experience and fresh perspectives to The Equine Edge. Dr. Prof. Marie Rhodin DVM, Dipl. ACVSMR Marie Rhodin is one of the world's most cited authorities on objective gait analysis in horses. Her research showed that movement asymmetry is common, even in horses considered healthy, leading the field to focus on sensor-based diagnostics. She now combines veterinary medicine with AI/gait sensor technology. Yogi Sharp DipWCF, BSc(Hons), PGCert Farrier and PhD candidate in Farriery Science, he brings university research to farriers, vets, and owners. He's known internationally for evidence-based work on hoof morphology, biomechanics, and the hoof-posture connection. Yogi is regularly teaching on the international clinic circuit. Dr. Chris Pearce A pioneering specialist in equine dentistry, Dr Chris Pearce's work reveals how the TMJ and hyoid apparatus shape the horse's entire biomechanical chain, linking jaw mobility to poll flexion, topline engagement and hindquarter power. At The Equine Edge, Chris takes us from hoof to poll, showing how dental health underpins performance and welfare. Dr Adeline Tischmacher DVM, DESV, ECVSMR Dr. Adeline Tischmacher is an equine sports medicine and orthopaedics specialist with a strong focus on locomotion, diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation. She combines clinical expertise with objective gait analysis, using data to complement clinical examination, track changes over time and support a deeper understanding of equine locomotor problems. Inge Vandesende Inge is a highly respected trainer specializing in horse rehabilitation & redevelopment. With a background in physical education, she brings a deep understanding of movement, rhythm, and body awareness. Having trained horses to the highest international level in both dressage and jumping, she combines versatility with extensive expertise in equine performance and development. Matthias Agneessens, ERMT, ECST, CST, Biomechanicus Matthias is an expert in equine and human biomechanics, practicing as a manual therapist for both horses and riders. With over 20 years of experience in the international equestrian sport industry, his work focuses on treating physical imbalances to improve performance and prevent injuries for both the horse and the rider — for pain- or injury-free riding.
